Bs144In some ways, the World Poker Tour is a lot like Britney Spears. A few years ago she was about as hot as it got. Now, not so much. Every move is the wrong one, bound to piss people off.

That glow, it's just gone.

The World Poker Tour took another credibility hit today when seven poker players (Chris Ferguson, Andy Bloch, Howard Lederer, Joe Hachem, Greg Raymer, Phil Gordon, and Annie Duke) filed a lawsuit in LA this AM alleging that the WPT, as reported by Poker News, "unlawfully conspired to eliminate competition, and violated the intellectual property rights of these players."

Britney_fat13_1The poker playing plaintiffs claim that the WPT made them "waive lucrative rights to use their images and names to promote products and video games".

And it goes deeper. The players also accuse the WPT of price-fixing and collusion by making WPT member casinos keep players out of their tourneys unless said players forfeit their likeness rights.

The suit also seeks yet-to-be-determined punitive damages for past uses of player images in WPT products and promo materials, among other things.

For more info, read here and definitely here and most definitely here and read the lawsuit here.
