Steve "MrSmokey1" Billirakis Win WSOP Event #1

The 2007 WSOP crowned...or braceleted...or Corum'd...its first winner yesterday for Event #1 ($5,000 Mixed Hold'em). Internet specialist or possible pyromaniac Steve "MrSmokey1" Billirakis took it down, banking $536,287 and a Corum watch. Billirakis beat Greg "FBT" Mueller for the title.

Billirakis was surrounded by other notable Internet gurus, including Justin Bonomo, after the win.

In other tournament news, Alex Jacob is the chip leader at the Event #3 ($1,500 NLH) final table, stacked at 3,100,000. Jacob, an alternate into the event like Chops and Snake, has faired a little better than the aforementioned Chops and Snake. Chops sat short-stacked at Jacob's table early on, and watched as Jacob completely ran the table over. Third overall in chips is Jeff Yoak, who Chops also sat with after un-short-stacking himself later in the tourney. Yoak played smart and consistently got paid off on his big hands.
