Breaking News: Bodog Postpones Marketing Conference, Calvin Heads to Asia to Shoot Documentary
Yesterday we reported on how many are worried that "the Feds will barrage the Tel Aviv of Pokerdom, Las Vegas, with Katyusha-like indictments next week when Bodog's Calvin Ayre comes to town to host his annual Bodog.com marketing conference." We also posted some links to articles about how online gambling operators are scared to step foot on U.S. soil in the aftershock of David Carruthers' arrest/kidnapping while switching planes in Ft. Worth.
Well, a moment ago, Bodog sent out a statement to those registered for its marketing conference explaining that the conference will be postponed due to the "high level of concern over the uncertainty surrounding the U.S. government’s recent actions."
Here's the statement in its entirety:
“The Bodog.com Marketing Conference presents a wonderful opportunity for good discussion about marketing, customer service and about the growth of our industry; however, in the last few days, many of you who planned to attend the conference have expressed a high level of concern over the uncertainty surrounding the U.S. government’s recent actions against one of the companies in our industry. It is in light of these concerns that we have decided to postpone the Bodog.com Marketing Conference to a later date and at an international location. This decision ensures that the focus of the conference will not be lost. The scheduled Party, however, will go on as planned at Tao at the Venetian on Tuesday, July 25th at 9 p.m.
I apologize for any inconveniences this has caused, but in spite of what has happened of late we chose to act with the industries best interests in mind. I assure you that we will make it up with a bigger and better conference to be announced in the near future.
Bodog.com will carry on our business as usual and will continue to lead the way in digital entertainment.”
-Calvin Ayre, Founder and CEO of Bodog.com
And if you're wondering if Calvin is still planning on coming to Vegas next week, he's changed plans and will now head to Asia to shoot a documentary for one of his foundation's initiatives -- the fight against bear bile farming. Read up on it here.
But you heard the man, the party is still on in Vegas. And we'll be there.
does Ayre ever come to the US? he better not... there is no doubt he'd get taken down if he comes here...
