Friday Night Parting Shot: Arielle Kebbel

Just a moment ago, I (Snake) had no idea who to pick for this week's Parting Shot Girl. To be honest, it didn't concern me as more important matters weighed heavily on my mind. Like the geopolitical ramifications of the growing confrontation between Hizbollah and Israel and the struggle between secular Palestinian nationalists and the hardline Islamist movement of Hamas. Would the gains of the Cedar Revolution just one year ago be completely lost and will the Baath's pledge to back Hizbollah in an all out war against Israel make a bloody showdown in the Middle East all but certain?

And then the Addict showed me a photo of Arielle Kebbel in the most recent Stuff, and like some glorious epiphany delivered straight from the mouths of angels (or in this case, my brother handing me an issue of Stuff magazine), I realized that all is right in the world.

At least when you're looking at a photo of Arielle Kebbel.

What can we tell you about this impossibly gorgeous young actress who stars this year alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar in The Grudge 2 and Ashanti and Brittany Snow in John Tucker Must Die? Well, interestingly enough she was born in the same town the Addict and I grew up in, Winter Park, Florida. Also interestingly enough (and damn depressing too), is that when Kebbel was born, the Addict was a sophomore in high school smoking cloves and decked out in Generra and a new wave do and I was in 8th grade with a mouth full of braces (just more proof we were born in the wrong decade). The 21 years since have been kind to Kebbel as she's already landed a number of decent acting gigs, including appearances on Entourage and roles on the big screen in Be Cool, Soul Plane, Aquamarine and American Pie: Band Camp (well, not quite all on the big screen). Sure, this isn't on the same level as Oscar-worthy cinema like Snakes on a Plane, but with two big movies out in 2006, Kebbel's star is no doubt rising and you'll be seeing a lot more of her.
