Card Player - Where History Comes Alive!

We here at Wicked Chops Poker were talking the other day. We asked ourselves, "What event in the history of the world can most aptly be compared to the 2006 WSOP?"

Usww0040Immediately, we came to a consensus: World War II.

Truly evil dictators. Millions of lives lost. Holocaust. Ravaging of nations. Atomic annihilation.

The 2006 WSOP.

Unfortunately, we are not very well writers. We doesn't write good.

So we couldn't capture the best way to explain our groundbreaking correlation in the above conversation that we never actually had.

Enter Card Player.

In their August 1st Daily, Card Player was able to perfectly construct the parallels between WWII and the 2006 WSOP in a way we never could, nor will, be able to do.

"This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.” Those of a certain age—or those who are fans of the great British wartime leader Winston Churchill—may recognize that quote, delivered on November 10, 1942, when the tide may have begun to turn for the Allies in World War II. It seems an especially apt sentiment as the fourth flight of Day#1 played down on Monday at the Rio: For players at least, this was not the end. It was “not even the beginning of the end.” But for some players— for the survivors—it was indeed “the end of the beginning.”

I had a good laugh after reading that opening paragraph in the CP Daily. I couldn't continue reading after that ... In fact, I may have abandoned literacy altogether.

And then, to make matters worse, they repeat the quote in an explanation at the end of the paragraph. In case any of their readers made it this far in life without understanding how an analogy works.
