2008 WSOP Main Event Final Table: What People in the "Industry" Are Saying
The delay of the 2008 WSOP Main Event final table has been a source of major debate within the poker world the past week. Most hate it and never liked it, some hated it and then liked it, and some liked it all along.
Just like anal.
Another anal joke? Really?
In our latest webisode of The TOKE, we talked to some "industry" and so-called "media" types for their take.
Excellent video. In my experience, the more people learn about the specifics, the more they come around to the idea. I think a lot of it has to do with early rumors and false assumptions.
No, the final nine players won't be forced into a reality TV scenario. Yes, all nine will be paid ninth place money (the minimum amount they are guaranteed) as soon as the tenth-place finisher busts. And no, Harrah's won't be keeping the interest on the remaining prizepool.
As the video points out, there are still legitimate concerns, like potential collusion and a significant change from tradition. But we won't know for certain how everything plays out until we try it. That's why it's called an experiment.
