Poker News Takes Some Shots at Daniel Negreanu, Barry Greenstein
Wait wait wait wait. We thought we had the market cornered on cheap shots.
In a new blog post called The Poker Gossip, Poker News reports a couple of times that Daniel Negreanu's "bankroll is running low." This actually isn't remotely true. The article says the same thing about Barry Greenstein too (no idea on that one, but given his Poker Stars deal, doubtful).
Now we're all for posting of rumors on the so-called "Internet." Along with email and porn, rumor posting is the sole reason why the Internet exists. But suffice to say, we're pretty sure this post wouldn't have run if John Caldwell was still running things.

I immediately wrote Poker News to tell them that I would not be reading their sensationalist bullshit anymore.

Excellent catch on the UB ad, Kevin. I hadn't noticed that, and I find it to be rather "newsworthy." :-)

If the idea of moving up that "article" was to get it on the front page of Pokernews.com and having it discussed, it certainly worked. Like WCP notes, if Caldwell was around, that article doesn't appear on a prominent part of their site. Of course, they've also forgotten about how UB was "banned" from Pokernews, and they're now back promoting their room and having the occasional article published.

That entire PokerNews "article" is embarrassing. (I think it originally ran on their UK site.)
As bad as the made-up rumors are about Negreanu and Greenstein, they go on to attack comedy legend Steve Martin for his online poker anecdote on "Late Show with David Letterman." Sure, the Pink Panther remakes look painful, but you can't deny that Martin is a genius and a legend.
