Sandra Naujoks, A Woman, Wins EPT Dortmund Event

This chick just won an EPT event...

All right. Whoa whoa whoa. What's going on here. Is 2009 going to be the Year of the Woman^TM in poker?

First, Vanessa Rousso, a woman, who went to Duke, came in second at the NBC National Heads Up Poker Championship. This after getting a paid-for ad in the SI Swimsuit Issue. Now, Sandra Naujoks, a woman, has won the EPT Dortmund tournament in wherever the hell Dortmund is.

Even more amazingly, both women are...attractive? What gives? How is this happening?

Sure, had you said something like, "Entities, you know, 2009 is going to be a year in which attractive women excel in the field of administrative assisting and kindergarten teaching..." we'd be like, "Ok, yeah, we can see that."

But poker?

Naujoks beat a bunch of guys with alien sounding names and dolphin-like accents to win the title. She becomes the second woman to win an EPT event, banking €917,000.

Well its still early in the year but we may see some successful women rise to the top of their game. We have yet to see a woman win the main event but who knows this could be the year watch out!
